"Woopi"

Graphite On Stonehenge Paper
5 x7
This is a drawing of my son's woopi cushion. I was taking photos one day of other objects and my son laid his woopi cushion on the table in the sun. The way the sun defines the soft curves of the toy just looked amazing. I needed to do a more whimsical drawing after the last portrait to loosen up my mind.

Graphite On Stonehenge Paper

11 x 16

This is a portrait of my late father in law, Mr. Grabriel Amah. He was a very kind and gentle man. Very soft spoken. He has been greatly missed. Also, I hope to do a portrait of my late mother in law so that they can be hung as a set.

This drawing took sometime to complete. when I do such a detailed drawing I have to be in a mental state that is very meticulous. Since getting into the grove the other day I decided it was time to tackle this piece. I loved the way it turned out and I am planning on doing it again in colored pencil.

Just loved creating the highlights and the shadows in this piece. This painting was done from a photo of a pumpkin that my son had picked out for Halloween. I photographed it sitting in the sun which created amazing colors and great shadows.

I am fairly new to using watercolor. I just love how you can do so much with it. It can be very fluid and you can create great washes of color or keep it thick and it can be very precise. The colors are so vibrant as well.

Graphite Drawing On Stonehenge Paper
8 x 10
This is another drawing of my son. I kept the drawing very loose. I used bold pencil strokes and did not polish the drawing off by blending the graphite. I was more concerned with the shadows and creating light and dark more so than with the actual portrait.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

Well it is a new year so new New Year's Resolutions. Well it looks as if I am not keeping at least one of mine. It is a week into the new year and I have not posted anything new yet. Actually I have been stuck on a commission that is taking me awhile to complete due to the size. Also, the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and letters Competition deadline is January 15 and I had to prepare a piece for that competition. So, Happy new year everyone and i promise to get some new work up here very, very soon!!!!
