"World Cup Dreaming"

SOLD
Copyright Reserved By The Artist
Acrylic paint on gallery stretched canvas
8 x 8
My husband has been after me awhile now to paint a soccer ball for him but not just any soccer ball. We were very fortunate to be living in South Korea during the South Korea/ Japan World cup. This ball was the official ball used during those games. It has followed us halfway over the world and now resides in the trunk of our car. It is taken out to fulfill it's destiny every so often. :) Happy Father's Day Big Daddy!!!!

"Afternoon Green Tea" Acrylic Painting

For Sale By The Artist
Copyright Reserved By The Artist
Acrylic paint on gallery stretched canvas
6" x 6"
*
This is an acrylic painting of one of my Korean teacups in the late afternoon sun. The sun cast long black shadows and brilliant light across my dining room table. The cup is a very nice earth green tone which sits well on the floral tablecloth.
*
This is also the third painting done in this acrylic painting technique in which I primed the canvas in black before starting the painting. This allowed any color laid on top to pop off the canvas. It is also 6" x 6" so it is fairly small but the image is very striking. On the edge of this painting, I painted a more whimsical design. I felt that this painting was more playful so needed something more casual on the edges. The blue flower is taken from the pattern in the tablecloth.

Acrylic On Back Stapled Canvas
6"x 6"
This is an acrylic painting of the tomatoes I grew last year in my kitchen garden. I never had much success with the tomatoes but they did look nice on the plate waiting to ripen. This piece takes in the late afternoon light which cast long shadows and created brillant colors.

"Memories Of Thailand" Acrylic painting

For Sale By the Artist

Acrylic painting on canvas
6 x 6
I just love the afternoon sun as it shines in through my living room window. The brilliance of the sun casts long dark shadows along the walls and floors. In this piece, the sun plays across a mask and a set of prints I had brought back from a trip to Thailand. I started this piece by priming the canvas in black acrylic paint. This allows the colors to pop off the canvas and create that bright mid afternoon sun. Due to the thickness of the canvas frame I was able to paint a design around the edging of the canvas. I used a gold paint because in the pictures hung around the mask there are gold paint pictures on black fabric.

I have been a follower of the Daily Painters Art Gallery for a long time now. One painter on there inspired me to paint this way today. His name is Edward B. Gordon. He too captures stark lighting on figures and various subject matters. He also paints in small format but uses bold colors and brush strokes. If you get the chance check him out. You won't be disappointed.

I have a very wide collection of objects from various countries that I have collected over the years on my travels around the world. I just fell in love with this mask when I was in Phuket Thailand. The craftsmanship is top notch. The elongated face is not something you see in a lot of masks from that region. The beautiful color of the wood and the decorative painting on the face makes it a magnificent piece. Hung in frames around the mask are hand painted gold pictures done on fabric also from Thailand.

Crock

I am back to painting again. This is a bean crock that my mother has used many times over the years. It brings back fond memories of watching her cooking. I like the earth tone colors of the pot.

Vase

I decided to paint this vase because I desperately need the practice of painting surfaces that are metallic. I am going to try and find objects that offer a variety of textures. $50.00

Drink

As promised, a painting a day. This one was fun to do. I enjoyed playing around with the colors. My mom insists that this is not a cup but a herb pot. I know it is a cup but does it matter just as long as it is a vessel of some kind.
