Yesterday, while out in the garden, I spied in my neighbors back yard a big patch of daises. I grabbed my camera and took a bunch of pictures. I am planning on doing a series of drawing based on these photos. Enjoy!

The other day my sister sent me a message saying she would like to see more of my husband or my mother. I thought that made her a volunteer to be my next victim. This drawing was taken from a recent photo when my mother visited my sister in Dartmouth earlier this summer. I hope they like it but I don't think I am fully finished with it. If I make any changes to it I will post an update.

I took a photo of some leaves in my next door neighbors garden. They were these huge green leaves that almost looked like elephant ears. I do not know much about plants so I cannot tell you the name of them. They are also a brilliant green color which is what caught my eye.

Corn on the cob offers a very intricate pattern and texture. I just loved doing the individual kernels. Details in a drawing are very important to me. Also, the kernals are in a very uniformed position.

Not For Sale This piece is continuing in my series of works focusing around my son. I just love to watch children sleep. They do it so well. They can be deep in sleep in a matter of minutes. My mother always says that when children go to sleep they are just like angels who have hung up their wings for a long nights sleep.

I am back to painting small format again. I moved away a little with the graphite drawings and the last posting of such a big piece. I like to paint on a larger scale but due to time restraints I have realized I am unable to do both. I will alternate between the two. This painting was one I had started awhile ago. I got tired of it being unfinished. It wasn't the most successful piece but I think it has gotten me back into the mood of daily painting.

After cooking mussels for dinner one night I realized how pretty the inside of the shells are. I tried painting this picture but something just wasn’t going right so I opted to draw it. I am still determined to finish the painting. I leave no painting unfinished no matter how unsatisfied I am with the process. I am also considering doing a color drawing of the mussels. I would really like to capture the iridescent nature of the shells.

Sparkle

I did this drawing on black rice paper that I purchased in InSaDong in Seoul South Korea. I then cut holes in the drawing and spray adhered it to the red rice paper. There is a glare from the light coming in on the right side so the color is a little washed out in the photo. I am still working on photographing my work properly.
