This piece is continuing in my series of works focusing around my son. I just love to watch children sleep. They do it so well. They can be deep in sleep in a matter of minutes. My mother always says that when children go to sleep they are just like angels who have hung up their wings for a long nights sleep.

"Kiwi 2" acrylic Painting
Acrylic on Canvas board
5 x 7
I am back to painting small format again. I moved away a little with the graphite drawings and the last posting of such a big piece. I like to paint on a larger scale but due to time restraints I have realized I am unable to do both. I will alternate between the two. This painting was one I had started awhile ago. I got tired of it being unfinished. It wasn't the most successful piece but I think it has gotten me back into the mood of daily painting.

"Squint" Acrylic Painting
Acrylic on canvas board
18 x 20
Sorry I haven't posted in some time. Summer activities have taken precedent over my daily painting. It took four hours to put together my son's new play yard! Today's painting is going to be a triptych eventually.

I haven't posted in a few days due to summer activities taking precedent. I approached this piece as if you were viewing the image through shattered glass. Certain elements are repeated throughout the drawing.

Graphite and ink on Paper
Once again I tried using a combination of mediums in my work. I like how they play off of one another.

Graphite on Paper
8 x 10
After cooking mussels for dinner one night I realized how pretty the inside of the shells are. I tried painting this picture but something just wasn’t going right so I opted to draw it. I am still determined to finish the painting. I leave no painting unfinished no matter how unsatisfied I am with the process. I am also considering doing a color drawing of the mussels. I would really like to capture the iridescent nature of the shells.

Irradiate

Graphite on Paper
After viewing my blog earlier I have come to the realization that I do not write very much about my work. For me the process of making the work is more important than the product. I think that is why I don't have much to comment on.

Sparkle
I did this drawing on black rice paper that I purchased in InSaDong in Seoul South Korea. I then cut holes in the drawing and spray adhered it to the red rice paper. There is a glare from the light coming in on the right side so the color is a little washed out in the photo. I am still working on photographing my work properly.
