This is a good example of how a reference photo really matters. As an artist when you are commissioned to do a piece you have no idea if the photo is a good photo of the subject. All you can do is draw the photo as close as you can. Once I had done that the client was not happy with the drawing. They said it didn’t look like them. Honestly I always say I do t know if it does or not but it looks like the reference photo.
